    The Xiangjiang River, the largest river of Hunan, is one of the main tributaries of the Yangtze River. Originated from the Haiyang Mountain within the counties of Xing’an, Lingyong, Guanyang and Quanzhou in the northeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, it is called the Haiyang River for its upper reach and joins with the Xiaoshui River at the urban area of Yongzhou, Hunan Province, where it begins to be called the Xiangjiang River. It runs a total of 817 kilometers and covers a valley area of 92300 square kilometers. The Xiangjiang River, which is the mother river of the Hunan people, has been ceaselessly surging forward for thousands of years. The lower reach of the Xiangjiang River begins after it runs through Mount Hengshan.
