Mr. Shen Congwen, a Chinese famous litterateur, praised the cross-stitch of the Yao Nationality as “the world’s first-class cross-stitch”. In 1994, in the Great Exhibition of Chinese Superb Folk Arts held by the National Ministry of Culture, the Yao cross-stitch won the bronze medal.
